Dennis P. Lettenmaier,美国加州大学洛杉矶分校(UCLA)杰出教授,美国国家工程院院士,美国地球物理联合会(AGU)会士、美国气象学会(AMS)会士、美国科学促进会(AAAS)会士。他于1971年在华盛顿大学获得机械工程学士学位,1973年在乔治华盛顿大学获得土木、机械和环境工程硕士学位,1975年在华盛顿大学获得博士学位。主要从事大尺度水文、遥感水文和水文气象领域等研究。1976年至2014年,他在华盛顿大学任教,并于2014年加入加州大学洛杉矶分校。曾担任Journal of Hydrometeorology创刊主编,AGU水文领域前任主席,全球能量与水循环协调观测计划科学咨询委员会主席,并于2020年当选为美国国家工程院院士。发表学术论文300多篇,被引5万余次,是国际水文气象学界的领军人物,在2017年获得了Clarivate Analytics全球环境科学领域的最高引用荣誉。先后荣获Walter L. Huber奖章,AGU水文科学奖,Walter Orr Roberts Lecturer,Robert E. Horton Lecturer,Walter B. Langbein Lecturer等多项荣誉。他目前领导多项重要的水文与气候变化的研究项目,致力于将科学成果应用于全球水资源管理和气候变化的应对策略中。
Brief Introduction of Professor Lettenmaier
Professor Dennis Lettenmaier is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research focuses on hydrologic modeling and prediction, hydrology-climate interactions, and hydrologic change. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 1975 and has authored or co-authored over 300 journal articles, significantly contributing to the fields of hydrology and climate science. Prof. Lettenmaier was the founding Chief Editor of the American Meteorological Society’s Journal of Hydrometeorology and has served as the past President of the Hydrology Section of the American Geophysical Union. He is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Society, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering in 2020.
Internationally recognized for his contributions to hydrology, Prof. Lettenmaier was listed among the most highly cited scientists in environmental science by Clarivate Analytics in 2017. Up to Oct, 2024, his h-index is 109, with total paper citation of 50664, according to the Web of Science. Currently, Prof. Lettenmaier leads several major research projects on hydrology and climate change, aiming to apply scientific findings to global water resource management and climate change adaptation strategies.
